I'm pleased to announce that Woods Fun Center is sponsoring this ride. Additionally, David, the general manager at Woods, and his wife are both DS/Adv riders and are planning on attending this ride.
Woods will be providing a number of items such as shirts, hats, etc.. suitable for DS riders. These items will be awarded via a drawing during the Saturday night dinner. Only registered riders will be eligible for the drawing giveaways.
I am excited and appreciative of this sponsorship. Next time you are in Woods, please let them know that we truly appreciate their sponsorship of the inaugural Texas Adventure Ride.

What kind of bikes? Any one ever try this on a V-Strom? I am trying to line this up for myself and some other friends in the Fort Worth area. Thanks, sounds like fun.

ridingmyklr,
Your V-Strom will do fine on this ride. If you don't have a skid plate on it I recommend you get one as a safety measure, but a stock V-Strom will do fine. My Uncle rode quite a few of the roads in the area on his Wee-Strom and didn't have any problems at all. With any luck at all I'll be riding a Wee-Strom during this event, too.
Hope you and your friends can make it.

ridingmyklr, If you're interested in some DS riding in the Ft Worth area, drop me an email. I think you and your buddies would really enjoy this ride that I have put together over the last few years. Of all the riders that I have led around this loop, they have all been surprised that this is in our area. The ride is 275 miles with most of it on dirt, gravel or unimproved roads. For Richard's event in Junction, y'all might want to join up with our group for the daily ride.REL Robert E Lee littlegeneral54@juno.com Burleson TX KLR/ST

Littlegeneral are you the one that had the Jan. 1st dual sport ride that left out of Cleburne? I do not ride a V-Strom, I am the happy owner of an A18 KLR. I was checking for some friends. I tried to go on the last ride, but could not get that long of a kitchen pass from the wife on a holiday. I would love to make the ride someday in the future. Let me know when you make the ride again. Thanks.

Hey ridingmyklr, sorry for taking so long in getting back to you. I owe, I owe, so off to work I had to go.....No, I was not the one who had the Jan 1 ride. I believe that was Mikeal Wohlgemuth from here in Burleson. I don't know how that turned out. If you'd like to know next time we do our dualsport loop, drop me your e-mail and I'll put you on my list of dualsport riders (currently 29 riders). Thanks, REL
Richard - I have started to spread the word for you about your ride. I have let the guys know in Okla and up in Kansas and sent out an e-mail to the 29 guys on my list. Starting to get a lot of interest from the guys around here. Can't wait.... Little General littlegeneral54@juno.com

The rate of registrations has increasing quite a bit since Christmas and it sure looks like there will be a good turnout for this ride. We are up to about 25 riders as of today.

Question to anyone who might know. Is camping not a consideration? To hot? No safe area?
Also, I'll be coming from Jax, FL. is there anyone else known to be coming from Ga, or SC. etc.
Sounds like this thing is going to really catch on. Thanks for any feed back.

Ponchov,
Yes, there is camping in the area. There are 2 state parks, 1 city park, and several RV parks in and aroudn Junction, all likely to be safe. Contact info for each of them is in the Ride Guide. It shouldn't be too hot during that time of the year to camp.
So far, I've not received any registrations from anyone east of Louisiana.

I'm in Grapevine and need a good excuse to get the GS dirty. I mostly do the daily commute bit along with long distance solo riding, so need to socialize more!
